The City of Wheaton, Ill., has awarded Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) with a five-year residential waste and recycling contract, which goes into effect on October 1, 2016. The city’s decision was largest influenced by LRS’ use of permanent RFID-enabled tags on bins to improve the accuracy of service delivery.
In addition to residential waste and recycling, the contract also includes an organic composting option for residents to participate in.

Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), Chicagoland's leading independent recycling and waste diversion services provider, today announced it has been awarded a five-year residential waste and recycling contract with the City of Wheaton, effective Oct. 1, 2016.
"We are honored and grateful to win the City of Wheaton's residential waste and recycling contract and look forward to serving the disposal needs of Wheaton residents this fall," said LRS Managing Partner Joshua B. Connell. "This important contract win expands our presence into DuPage County, and mirrors the demand and growth we've experienced in Chicago's vibrant collar counties over the past year."
The company's active use of permanent RFID-enabled tags on bins to improve service delivery accuracy was a compelling driver behind the City of Wheaton's selection decision. LRS first introduced the innovative RFID-enabled bins earlier this year in North Shore municipalities, including the City of Highland Park.
