Longmont, Colo., to Begin Curbside Composting Collections
The city recently delivered 96-gallon carts to more than 2,800 residences and is launching the program this week.

Earlier this year, residents in Longmont, Colo., had the chance to sign up for a new voluntary curbside composting collection program, which provides residents with 96-gallon carts for compostable materials like lawn and garden waste, solid paper products and food scraps. The city recently delivered carts to more than 2,800 residences and is launching the program this week.
The new service costs $6.60 per month and collections will be every other week.

This coming week, Longmont will begin collecting compost from the green-lidded 96-gallon carts the city has already delivered to more than 2,800 residences that signed up for the voluntary program.
That's about 10 percent or more of the city's 28,000 residences getting city trash collection services, and people in all parts of the city have signed up for the optional collections of compostable materials under the program.
