Orlando, Fla., to Launch New Solid Waste and Recycling Schedule in May
The new schedule will roll out in three phases—the first phase starting on May 1, the second on June 26 and the third on August 21.

Starting in May, Orlando, Fla., will begin collecting waste and recycling once a week. Previously, the city was collecting waste twice a week and recycling once every other week, but an increase in recycling efforts motivated the city to adjust the schedule.
The new schedule will roll out in three phases—the first phase starting on May 1, the second on June 26 and the third on August 21.

Starting in May, residents across Orlando will see their weekly garbage collection days halved and their recycling pickups doubled as the city tests a new solid waste schedule that Mayor Buddy Dyer’s staff hopes to make permanent citywide.
The new schedule would see trash and recycling each collected once per week. Currently, garbage is picked up twice a week in the city, while recycling is collected once every other week.
