Republic Services Resumes Recycling Collection in Two Texas Cities
Following a recent recycling center fire, Republic has resumed recycling collection in the Cities of Plano and Richardson.
A fire broke out at Republic Services’ recycling center in Plano, Texas, on December 28, 2016, causing the company to halt recycling services until it found a temporary site to process recyclables. Now, two weeks later, Republic has resumed recycling collection in the Cities of Plano and Richardson and will be processing the materials at a temporary site until a permanent solution is determined.
KERA News has more details:
Plano residents can return to separating their plastic, glass and other recyclable materials from their trash after a fire suspended recycling services for nearly two weeks. Richardson residents will be able to do the same Thursday.
A fire broke out on Dec. 28 when a recycling truck dumped a load of material at the Republic Services recycling center, located in the 4200 block of 14th Street in Plano. After the fire, officials with the recycling center and the City of Plano couldn't find an alternative location to dispose of residents' recyclable waste, so services were suspended until further notice.
