Santek Waste Services Attends Boy’s Trash-Themed Birthday Party

Rhys Perkins, a 4-year-old Trussville, Ala., resident and garbage enthusiast, celebrated his birthday on April 8 with a trash-themed birthday party at Big Springs Park. At his party, he got to explore the inside of a Santek Waste Services’ garbage truck and honk the horn.

“I never thought [Santek] would say yes [to attending the party], especially since the park isn’t located inside the Trussville city limits,” said Rhys’ mother Natalie Perkins in a statement. “But we were blown away when Santek agreed to drive a truck to the party. Rhys was pretty excited, but I don’t think he really understood the truck was coming until it actually showed up.”

Beyond his stellar birthday party with Santek, Rhys interacts with employees every Friday when they come to his home for regular garbage collection. The night before each collection, Rhys collects the trash from his home and wheels the garbage truck down to the curb for Santek to collect the next day.
