Garofalo Carting Owners to be Sentenced in Fraud Case

Company owners have pleaded guilty to allegations of fraudulently billing for trash removal services and underpaying their employees.

The owners of Long Island, N.Y.-based Garofalo Carting Company will be sentenced today for stealing $222,000 from the town of Smithtown and underpaying workers.

In May, company owners pled guilty to allegations of fraudulently billing the town for trash removal services and underpaying their employees. The company is expected to pay full restitution to the town and its workers.
