Iowa Lawmakers OK Bill to Study Rural Recycling

Members of the Iowa House Appropriations Committee voted Tuesday to allocate $100,000 to study recycling programs for rural Iowa.

The bill, House File 541, originally would have created a "hub and spoke" recycling program to serve rural areas of the state. That program would have created a system with a central recycling hub with several smaller, rural locations feeding into it.

But lawmakers said they wanted more information about how to make the logistics of such a program work.
