NWRA Urges Congress to End Efforts to Pass Build Back Better Legislation

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) joined with other associations on a letter to Congress urging them to end their efforts to pass the Build Back Better (BBB) Act.

“Recent estimates show that more than $500 billion of the bill’s cost will be shouldered by family businesses, and the bill would impose higher taxes on these businesses, too,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “Raising taxes on America’s businesses in this environment moves us in the wrong direction. We urge Congress to stand up for businesses and end their efforts to pass the Build Back Better legislation.”

Last month’s Consumer Price Index report showing inflation rising at the fastest rate in forty years is alarming. Rapidly rising prices are a serious challenge to businesses of all sizes. The Federal Reserve has recognized the challenge inflation poses to families and businesses and announced it would begin tapering its quantitative easing purchases in the coming months.
