Oregon DEQ Fines Isovolta for Alleged Hazardous Waste Violations

Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has fined Isovolta, an aerospace manufacturer that makes laminates and thermoplastics for airplanes, for alleged hazardous waste violations.

DEQ has fined the company $23,136 for failing to train employees on hazardous waste management, to maintain a complete training plan, to perform a complete and accurate hazardous waste determination or to properly label and store wastes generated at its factory. DEQ also cited the company, without fines, for failing to properly manage hazardous wastes, universal wastes and used oil.

Isovolta has filed an appeal.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined a Harrisburg aerospace manufacturer $23,136 for hazardous waste violations.

Isovolta Inc. makes customized laminates and thermoplastics for airplanes.

The company uses several toxic solvents and is a federally registered hazardous waste generator, producing about 2,200 pounds of hazardous waste per month. It does not have a permit to treat, store or dispose of hazardous waste.
