Amended Tenn. Landfill Fees Go Before County Commissioners

While questions remain about how, exactly, a new landfill user fee billing system for Bi-County Solid Waste Management will be implemented, how many people will be affected and how revenues will be supplemented, the Montgomery County Commission is pressing forward this week with a resolution amending the solid waste fee.

The resolution on tap for a vote at next Monday’s formal commission meeting seeks approval of an amended and uniform solid waste disposal fee program, whereby a monthly $5 user fee would be charged “across-the-board.” The only exception would be residents who qualify for the county’s tax relief program, who would pay nothing.

After local power utilities pulled out of handling billing for Bi-County Solid Waste Management, the Bi-County staff is looking to start a billing operation in-house after June 30.
