Aramark Higher Education’s clients recycled more than 20 million pounds during the recent RecycleMania competition. Overall, 165 colleges and universities that use Aramark participated in the competition.

Aramark Higher Education provides food and professional services to more than 600 colleges and universities in North America. RecycleMania is a 10-week recycling competition among colleges and universities across the United States. The competition is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise program and the National Recycling Coalition.

Aramark-affiliated campuses recycled 66 percent more waste than they did during the 2008 event. “We are extremely proud of our campus partners for their efforts during the RecycleMania 2009 competition and look forward to surpassing the 20 million pounds of waste mark in next year's competition,” said Chris Stemen, senior director of sustainability and environmental stewardship for ARAMARK Higher Education, in a press release.
