Hawaii State Senate Debates Bottle Deposit

Honolulu, Hawaii — Hawaii's state Senate is debating a proposal to add a 2-cent refundable deposit to all beverage containers. Anhauser Busch is concerned about the expense this measure could add to the retail price of beer. A compromise bill would charge wholesalers an advanced half-cent deposit fee, thus raising $4 million for the state. The committees are expected to decide on the bottle bill by Friday.
