NYC Fleet Safety Director Dies from COVID-19
Lenin Fierro is the first New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services employee to die from the coronavirus.
Lenin Fierro, the director of fleet safety and Vision Zero initiatives for the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services, has died from COVID-19. He is the first DCAS employee to die from the coronavirus.
Fierro worked for DCAS for six years and oversaw the safety initiatives for New York’s fleet, which includes more than 30,000 city-owned vehicles.

A city employee and Navy veteran who helped lead the Vision Zero push to cut traffic deaths has died of the coronavirus, officials announced Wednesday.
Lenin Fierro, the director of fleet safety and Vision Zero initiatives for the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, was the first DCAS employee to succumb to the disease.
The Queens man oversaw safety initiatives for New York’s fleet of more than 30,000 city-owned vehicles.
