Recycling Truck Catches Fire on Residential Route

Progressive recycling truck driver, Nathan Beiers was collecting residential recyclables on South Mary Lake Road this afternoon when he noticed smoke pouring out of the back of his truck.

With the help of Mark Major, Progressive maintenance manager, they got the truck to the open lot behind Smith’s Ultramar gas station near Port Sydney. “We had a lot of fire extinguishers on scene and we were able to contain the fire until the fire department got here,” said Major.
