Trenton, N.J. — Some 200 employees of Waste Management Inc. who work in the Trenton, N.J., area went on strike on Monday. According to The Times newspaper, garbage went uncollected on "numerous" streets in the area on Monday. The paper also reports that "[r]eplacement workers were jeered by members of Teamsters Local 701, which set up picket lines outside facilities that Waste Management operates in Ewing, Hamilton and Trenton."

A Teamsters official told The Times that the employees were offered a 4 percent pay raise "that amounted to a pay cut by a 7 percent increase in the cost of benefits." For more information, visit here.
