Medical Waste Firm Stericycle Posts Stronger Results in Quarter, Year

Medical waste firm Stericycle Inc. reported stronger net earnings and revenue for its fourth quarter and year.

The Lake Forest, Ill.-based Stericycle said net income for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 11.6 percent to $78.2 million, or 90 cents per share, compared with $70.1 million, or 80 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Sales climbed 12.8 percent to $567.9 million from $503.6 million a year earlier, according to a news release.

For the year, net income jumped 16.2 percent to $311.4 million, or $3.56 per share, compared with $268 million, or $3.08 per share, in 2012. Sales advanced 12 percent to $2.14 billion compared with $1.91 billion in the prior year.
