Battle Creek, MI is piloting a recycling inspection program.

Waste Management is partnering with the municipal to inspect recycling bins in an effort to reduce contamination.

All residents who have materials that can't be recycled will have their bin tagged. After the third warning, the bin will be removed and the resident will no longer participate in the recycling program.

The city’s Department of Public Works' environmental team has been working to educate residents about recycling through postcards, billboards, radio ads and informational videos.
