Beatrice, NE Closes Recycling Drop-Off Following Continued Contamination, Misuse

Due to repeated misuse of the site, the City of Beatrice and Midwest Area Refuse Solution (MARS) in Nebraska is closing its recycling drop-off location.

Officials made the decision following a third unfortunate incident when someone left a slaughtered pig in a roll-off container, which has raised serious health concerns for the site’s employees. Officials mentioned that the contamination issues have almost made it impossible to operate the drop-off site effectively.

The site was free to use for Beatric residents, now they’ll need to rely on curbside collection. MARS will continue to offer its curbside recycling collection option for a fee of $8.50 a month.
