Charlotte Offers Reward For Recycling

Charlotte, N.C. — Over the next three and a half months, the city of Charlotte, N.C., will randomly reward a recycling household with a $100 gift card to a local store, according to the Charlotte Observer newspaper. The city will select one household per week.
"City officials hope the chance for cash in the trash can boost the recycling rate, now between 50 percent and 60 percent of households," the paper reports.
