Chesapeake, Va Drop-off Locations Helped Save $2 Million on Recycling

A year after a public outcry for slow and delayed recycling pick up, the Chesapeake City Council gave an update on its recycling program.

A year after a public outcry for slow and delayed recycling pick up, the Chesapeake City Council gave an update on its recycling program.

Last year the Chesapeake City Council ended its contract with TFC Recycling after residents voiced multiple concerns.

The city is now offering several drop-off locations for recycling across the area at no additional cost to residents. These drop-off locations have been up and running for the past 10 months and the city says it has saved around $2 million since making the switch.

This success has led the Department of Public Works to consider expanding the drop-off sites to more locations in the future.
