The city of Greenfield, Mass. held its first Automated Recycling Outreach Transition meeting earlier this week ahead of its plans to move to single-stream recycling.

The city is working to move from a manual, dual-stream recycling method to a single-stream recycling collection. It will host more meetings for the community as the transition continues.

With the change, the city will see improvements to its recycling program. This includes new DPW recycling collection vehicles, improved worker conditions, and other upgrades to the Greenfield Transfer Station.

The upgrades are thanks in part to a $2 million grant from the EPA, which was awarded to the city in 2023.
