Mentos Trained Raccoons to Recycle; Yes, You Read That Correctly

Mentos held a sustainability campaign aimed at promoting their recyclable paper packaging that involved training raccoons to recycle.

Studies done by the EPA have stated that 78 percent of Americans claim they are more likely to buy a product if it is labeled environmentally friendly, however, not even one-third of Americans are recycling. In an attempt to increase awareness of this and boost recycling across the country, a study was done by Mentos to see the effectiveness of recycling among Raccoons. Yes, you read that right. Researchers trained raccoons to recycle and found that 75 percent of them were able to complete the task. Though this project was predominantly done for fun, Mentos proved successful in promoting the importance and simplicity of recycling.
