This summer, the two largest cities in Virginia are making large decisions with impacts on the environment. Virginia Beach, the largest of the two cities, could be making a decision regarding disposable plastic bags as early as July.
Deciding whether or not to tax bags five cents each, the decision could lower the amount of bags used that are then fed to landfills. Chesapeake, however, will be ending public curbside pickup recycling services. Writer Roger Chesley shares his opinions on these decisions in this article.
