Muncie, Ind. to Revamp Recycling Program After Receiving Grant

Muncie, Ind. recently received a $468,798 grant from the Recycling Market Development Board for a program the city will implement in 2023.

The grant money will be used to switch from blue plastic bags to blue bins or toters. Enough funds have been budgeted for the purchase of two new refuse vehicles.

The city currently has a 32 percent to 36 percent recycling rate, which it aims to grow to 50 percent.
