The largest electric vehicle battery recycling facility in North America has just opened in East Georgia.
Ascend Elements, a Massachusetts-based company, held a ribbon cutting earlier this week on its new facility, measuring in at a whopping 150,000-square-feet. This new facility can process 30,000 tons of used lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scrap per year. Which measures out to roughly 70,000 electric vehicle batteries.
“This facility is critical infrastructure that’s needed in the United States to help support this energy transition,” said Mike O’Kronley, Ascend Elements CEO. “We’re going to have millions of EVs on the road in the not-too-distant future; this facility isn’t going to be enough we need more.”
This giant new facility will open 185 new jobs for the area.
