Recyclebank Members Recycle 1.5 Billion Pounds of Waste in 2013

Recyclebank, the recycling rewards program firm, said its more than 300 member communities in 2013 recycled nearly 1.5 billion pounds of waste.

The New York-based company said that its members took more than 21.6 million green actions for a total of $60 million in rewards value, according to a news release.

Marking its 10th anniversary, Recyclebank said has brought together 2,500 local and national businesses with millions of residents during that time.

Recyclebank communities in 2013 increased the amount of recycling collected by 45 percent. On average Recyclebank members recycled an additional 157 pounds of material in 2013 compared with the recycling rate prior to the launch of the program.
