Scott County, Tenn., Receives Grant for Recycling Truck

The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation recently announced that Scott County has received a more than $170,000 grant to purchase a new recycling truck.

According to an Independent Herald report, the grant is among $1.9 million in waste reduction grants awarded by the department for projects aiming to reduce landfill waste across the state. Grants are funded by the Tennessee Solid Waste Management Fund, which receives money from a state surcharge on each ton of solid waste disposed in landfills, as well as a fee on new tires that are sold in the state.

Scott County has received more than $150,000 in grant funding for the purchase of a recycling truck, the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation announced Thursday.

The grant funds are among $1.9 million in waste reduction grants awarded by TDEC for projects that are aimed at reducing landfill waste across Tennessee.

Scott County received $173,479 for the recycling truck, with a local match of $19,275.
