Sonoco Recycling LLC has upgraded its Onslow County, N.C., material recovery facility (MRF) to increase recycling processing volumes.

The Hartsville, S.C.-based package recycling company said in a news release that it spent $2 million for the renovation at the MRF.

In addition to new equipment the company has added an education room and is providing tours to students.

Sonoco Recycling operates six MRFs and annually collects more than 3 million tons of old corrugated containers, and various grades of paper, metals and plastics.
