Single use vapes play an important role in the “harmful for the environment” conversation and are usually the cause of landfill fires. Now, one vape producer has created a highly recyclable vape.

ANDS, a vape producer, has developed a new single use vape that is 99%+ recyclable and recoverable.

The vape, called SLIX, features an outer shell that is made up of 100 percent recyclable, high-grade cardboard. It also features a biodegradable silicone mouthpiece and end piece, according to ANDS.

ANDS will be announcing the first major retailer to carry the environmentally friendly vape soon.

Recently, Material Focus conducted an analysis and found that 90 percent of vapes and vape juice producers in the UK fail to comply with environmental regulations. Last year, concerned environmental and health groups issued a statement to the environmental and health secretaries calling for a ban of single-use cigarettes by the government.

According to ANDS, the SLIX vape has been tested by vape waste firm Waste Experts, who is a subsidiary of the electrical wholesales City Electrical Factors (CEF), to confirm the vape’s recyclability legitimacy.

Tests done on the SLIX vape showed that the product is 99.29 percent recyclable and recoverable and creates 700 less weight compared to the same leading brands.

“While the analysis carried out by Waste Experts suggests that our single use vape is highly recyclable, we will continue to work towards zero waste. We aim to build a high rate of recyclability into all our products, by using high-quality recyclable materials and simple construction that allows for highly efficient dismantling,” says Dr Marina Murphy, Senior Director of Scientific and Medical Affairs at ANDS.
