West Virginia University Recycles 13 Tons of Cardboard During Move-In Weekend

Each year on move-in weekend, West Virginia University’s Office of Sustainability gets students accustomed to the campus’ recycling initiatives with its cardboard recycling program.

Each year on move-in weekend, West Virginia University’s Office of Sustainability gets students accustomed to the campus’ recycling initiatives with its cardboard recycling program.

This year, the school is reporting that volunteers helped students and parents recycle 13 tons of cardboard during the weekend. The school says that almost half of everything thrown away during the big move-in was recycled.

The school uses a single-stream recycling system, meaning all recyclable materials, like cardboard, can be placed in the same bin. For those unaware of what should be recycled, each bin around campus is labeled with guidelines on what should be recycled.
