Adams County Winery, the fifth oldest operating winery in the state of Pennsylvania, was struck with a moral dilemma when local recycling companies decided to stop accepting glass.
Unwilling to allow their glass to go straight to landfills, the winery decided to purchase a glass bottle crusher called the Expleco GLS 2.0 and do the recycling themselves.
Crushing the bottles into fine glass sand, the machine is similar to those they use at professional recycling facilities. The winery is excited to make the most of its recycled glass and is in the first stages of testing its efficiency as a weed controller in the vineyards, tent sandbag weights, and decorative elements.
