Approximately 2,000 Gallons of Wastewater Dumped into Kalamazoo River
After a minor incident at one of Graphic Packaging International's facilities, 1,5000 to 2,000 gallons of liquid industrial waste are believed to have been dumped into the Kalamazoo River.

The city of Kalamazoo claims approximately 1,500 to 2,000 gallons of liquid industrial waste were believed to have been dumped by Graphic Packaging International into the Kalamazoo River. It is believed this dumping was an accidental liquid release to a nearby storm sewer. The company is claiming the incident happened due to a "minor incident involving a sump." The city of Kalamazoo Department of Public Services and the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department are advising people to avoid potentially impacted areas.
