New York – The New York Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has released an independent study that examines how the city manages commercial waste. The study was mandated by a local law and is designed to help the department better manage the commercial waste stream during the next 20 years. The study address topics such as: the nonadverse effects of multiple transfer stations; commercial "putrescible" waste recycled in 2003; and how DSNY’s permit and inspection unit has increased environmental compliance.
