Volvo Construction Equipment Hires New President

Volvo Construction Equipment has named Melker Jernberg president of Volvo Construction Equipment and member of the Volvo Group Executive Board, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Jernberg replaces Martin Weissburg who has decided to move back to the United States for family reasons and will take up a position as senior advisor to Volvo president and CEO Martin Lundstedt. Weissburg will be stationed in Greensboro, N.C.

“Martin Weissburg has, through his strong leadership, been key to the considerable improvement in the performance of Volvo Construction Equipment and he will continue to have senior positions within the Volvo Group,” said Lundstedt. “Martin Weissburg will remain in his position until year end 2017 and take up his new position as senior advisor to me during the course of Q1 2018.”

Jernberg was born in 1968 and is currently president and CEO of the Sweden-based power metallurgy company Höganäs AB. Prior to that, Jernberg was executive vice president and head of business area EMEA at Swedish-based steel manufacturer SSAB. He will begin in his new position Jan. 1.
