Wisconsin Reduces Landfills By Recycling

Wisconsin residents have recycled more materials during the past 10 years, which has led to a reduction of landfills, news sources report. In 2002, residents recycled approximately 130,000 tons of newspapers, 6,000 tons of aluminum cans and 80,000 tons of glass, the Bureau of Waste Management states. "Because of recycling, we are able to avoid the expansion or development of landfills every year and a half," Cynthia Moore, the program coordinator for the Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Waste Management.
