In Argentina's Trash Cans, Less Waste Reflects Ravages of Inflation

As inflation reaches new heights of 60% in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, citizens are throwing away less trash.

For 24-year-old Joaquín Rodríguez, this is a big deal, as he makes his money trash collecting. People who do this type of work are known colloquially as cartoneros and are getting hit hard with this newly developing reaction to inflation. 

Rodríguez says as inflation rises, more people flock to this money making method making the lack of trash even more concerning to cartoneros.
