Arlington, VA – The Georgia chapter of the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) submitted a letter on July 29 to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) in opposition to the recent changes to permit application guidance for new municipal solid waste disposal facilities (MSWDF) or horizontal expansions.

“NWRA’s Georgia chapter appreciates the opportunity to comment on changes to the permit application guidance from the Georgia EPD,” said Abby Blocker, NWRA vice president of state affairs and the Sunbelt region. “The Georgia chapter requested the EPD engage with stakeholders as the agency amends its guidance.”

The chapter recommended that any guidance that alters or amends the Department of Natural Resources rules for solid waste management should not be issued.
