New Jersey Recycling Plant Catches Fire

A recycling facility in Passaic, New Jersey is a total loss following a fire that engulfed the building on Saturday, Jan. 30.

Two dozen fire departments responded to Atlantic Coast Fibers, a MRF that processes cardboard, paper, plastic containers, and other materials. The cause of the fire, which began around midnight, has yet to be determined.

Passaic's Fire Chief Patrick Trentacost told local news stations that the fire affected hundreds of employees and will take days to clean up.

The fire caused at least two explosions, including a truck with a tanker on it.
