NOTICE: North Central Pennsylvania Regional Solid Waste Management Plan Draft
COLUMBIA, LYCOMING, MONTOUR, SNYDER AND UNION COUNTIES, in North Central Pennsylvania are updating their Regional Solid Waste Management Plan in accordance with the provisions of Pennsylvania Act 101 of 1998 (Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act).

COLUMBIA, LYCOMING, MONTOUR, SNYDER AND UNION COUNTIES, in North Central Pennsylvania are updating their Regional Solid Waste Management Plan in accordance with the provisions of Pennsylvania Act 101 of 1998 (Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act). As required by the Act, the Region has obtained ten (10) years of waste disposal commitments, beginning in February 2023 and continuing through February 2033, for disposal for the municipal waste (MSW) generated within the Region during that period.
This notice serves to inform other disposal facilities that waste generated from the within the Region may be delivered and accepted at any properly permitted facility, outside of the capacity assurance contract.
The Region is mostly rural with smaller dense population centers in each County. The overall population as of the 2020 Census is 279,468. Manufacturing, agriculture, education, tourism and medical are major employers in the area.
