Sarasota, Fla. –- For a third time in two years, Sarasota County is taking bids on its solid waste contract. This time, however, Onyx Waste Services will not partake in the bidding process. After the company was turned down twice and had submitted a five-year contract for $5 million less than the next highest bidder, Onyx has decided to say out of the race.

"We gave our best price to Sarasota County a year ago and they chose to disregard a significant cost savings to the taxpayers," Bill Dietrich, Onyx CEO and a Sarasota County resident told news sources. "Under the circumstances, this environment is one in which we would rather not do business. As a result, we have chosen not to file another bid."
