Capital Environmental Announces Expansions, New President

Burlington, Ontario -- Capital Environmental Resource Inc. has appointed Larry Henk president and chief operating officer (COO). Henk formerly was president and COO for Allied Waste, Scottsdale, Ariz. Following Henk’s appointment, Capital Environmental Resource says it will establish a U.S. head office in Scottsdale. Capital also completed a series of acquisitions in Arizona, consisting of sites for a future landfill and transfer station and a collection operation.

The company has been permitted to construct a landfill with a lifetime capacity of more than100 million tons on an 805-acre property in Pinal County. Approximately 50 miles from the landfill site, in Mesa, Ariz., the company is permitted to build a transfer station that will be able to process up to 4,000 tons per day. The company also announced acquisition of a collection company also in Mesa, Ariz., that serves approximately 16,000 customers.
