Chicago -- Garbage workers who went on a nine-day strike last week walked away with a settlement that exceeded some expectations, according to news sources. The agreement will raise wages and benefits by 30 percent, and the median annual wage will be approximately $42,000. News sources add that some waste companies may have to raise charges as a result of the pay increase.
