The City of Pensacola (population 60,000) located on the Gulf Coast of Northwest Florida invites resumes for the position of Sanitation Services and Fleet Mgmt Director. Pensacola is a diverse community with strong military ties, beaches, tourism, and historic preservation. Under the general direction of the City Manager, reporting through the Assistant City Manager, the Sanitation Services and Fleet Mgmt Director manages a department with an annual budget exceeding 7 million dollars with 95 employees. The Sanitation Department (residential garbage, trash & transfer) provides collection services to over 19,000 households. In addition, the position is responsible for management of the City’s fleet of over 700 vehicles and various aspects of code enforcement throughout the city.
This is highly professional work as head of a major department of city Government. Experience required in solid waste management/collections and desired in fleet management and litter enforcement. Strong leadership style that encourages participatory management and teamwork, strong interpersonal skills, and experience in managing personnel with diverse backgrounds and responsibilities is essential.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and ten (10) years of experience in a senior managerial capacity, five (5) of which must have been in solid waste.
