A jury has awarded the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation a multi-million-dollar verdict in a lawsuit, in which the state trash agency sought to hold its former accounting firm responsible for its well-documented financial problems and misdeeds.
The Nov. 3 verdict against Restivo Monacelli totals at least $2.86 million, including $2,551,052 in investment losses that the jury blamed, at least in part, on auditing lapses. With 12 percent interest, the award could be much larger.
