St. Paul, Minn. — Ulti Med Inc. has been approved by the Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its UltiGuard home insulin syringe dispenser and sharps container to more safely dispose of needles. Waste collectors and others who run the risk of exposure to used needles found in trash bins recently have raised concerns about safety, according to Ulti Med. The UltiGuard allows for safe disposal by placing the used syringes in a compartment of the UltiGuard box.
