Acquisitions
KBF Pollution Management Inc., Paterson, N.J., has acquired Vulcan Waste Systems Inc., Long Island City, N.Y.
Waste Pro USA Inc., Longwood, Fla., has acquired American Disposal Inc., St. Augustine, Fla., which will come with a permit to build and operate a materials recovery facility (MRF) and transfer station in St. Johns County, Fla. The company also has acquired the hauling operations from Browning Ferris Industries (Allied Waste Industries), Scottsdale, Ariz., for Athens, Ga.
Agreements
Trinity Consultants, Dallas, has signed an agreement with the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA), Pittsburgh, to provide discounts on products and environmental training courses to A&WMA members.
Eaton Corp., Kalamazoo, Mich., has signed a five-year agreement with AutoXray Inc., Tempe, Ariz., to provide a line of diagnostic tools and services for commercial vehicles.
International Truck and Engine Corp., Warrenville, Ill., has made an agreement with Fontaine International, Birmingham, Ala., to be the exclusive supplier of factory-installed fifth wheels for heavy-, severe- and medium-duty tractors.
Onyx Waste Services of Florida, Sarasota, has been awarded the Solid Waste Stream Disposal Options Contract for Ocala, Fla., scheduled to begin Oct. 1, 2003. The company also has been awarded a five-year, collection-and-recycling contract from Palm Beach County. The contract is valued at approximately $26 million. Onyx will begin serving Palm Beach customers in October.
SBC Communications, San Antonio, Texas, has signed a one-year extension of its agreement allowing Minorplanet Systems USA Inc., Richardson, Texas, to provide mobile location and communication services to SBC's service vehicle fleet.
Tri-State Transfer Industries, Grosvenor-Dale, Conn., has signed an investment banking agreement with George K. Baum & Co., Kansas City, Mo., to assist in issuing up to $20 million in taxable or nontaxable debt securities to finance a municipal solid waste and construction and demolition (C&D) transfer station and recycling facility.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill., have signed an agreement to expand operations of their joint venture, Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd. (SCM), Tokyo.
Universal Engineering, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has entered into an agreement with Delwood Equipment Co., Charleston, W.Va., allowing Delwood to sell Universal parts and industrial systems for the aggregates, mining and recycling industry in West Virginia.

Advanced Disposal Services, Jacksonville, Fla., received a $52 million private equity investment from PNC Equity Partners, New York Life Capital Partners, BB&T Capital Partners and Rock Creek Partners. The company also expanded its credit facility to $35 million.
