Acquisitions

  • Waste Industries USA Inc., Raleigh, N.C., has acquired Hammock Sanitation, Crossville, Tenn., Kellett's Sanitation Inc., Easley, S.C., and S&W Sanitation, Wilson, N.C.

  • Waste Pro USA Inc., Orlando, Fla., has acquired Island Disposal, Hilton Head, S.C., Preeling Industries, Live Oak, Fla., and HAL Industries, Chiefland, Fla.

  • Oakleaf Waste Management, East Hartford, Conn., has bought back its minority interest owned by Encompass Services Corp., Houston, giving the company 100 percent control of its operations.

  • The solid waste division of the Shaw Group Inc., Baton Rouge, La., has purchased Santee, Calif.-based LFG&E International's drilling division.

  • The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) has chosen Maine Plastics Inc., both of Chicago, as the official recycler of National Plastics Expo (NPE) 2003, to be held June 23-27, 2003.
