Acquisitions

  • Eastern Organic Resources, Wrightstown, N.J., has acquired Woodhue Ltd., an organics recycling, composting and soil blending facility also located in Wrightstown.

  • World Waste Services Inc., Miami, has acquired three new companies: Busy Bee, Better Waste Management, and Garbage, Roll-off, Demolition, all three of which are located in Miami.

  • Capital Environmental Resource Inc., Burlington, Ontario, has completed a series of acquisitions in Arizona consisting of a landfill, a transfer station and collection company.



Grants

  • The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Portland, is expected to receive $400,000 in Brownfields assessments grant money from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington, D.C., to assess sites with environmental problems in rural and economically distressed communities throughout Oregon.



Merger

  • The Washington, D.C.-based Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries' Southwestern and Northern California chapters have merged to form the new West Coast chapter, comprising California, Nevada, Hawaii and Baja, Mexico.



New Offices

  • Heil Environmental Industries, Chattanooga, Tenn., has updated the Heil Institute of Technology in Fort Payne, Ala.

  • Hansen International, Lexington, S.C., has moved into a new 130,000-square-foot facility.
