WMI Relaxes Grip on North American Markets, Cuts Jobs

Houston – The

Associated Press

is reporting that Waste Management Inc. is planning to cut 700 full-time jobs and 270 contract positions in order to tighten North American operations and reduce market areas from 91 to 66. Approximately 60 jobs will be cut from Houston headquarters and 640 will be cut in the field. The company hopes to save $42 million from the cuts and $50 million annually.
