Court Votes to Pursue Closure of Kentucky Landfill

Residents in Boyd County who live near the Big Run Landfill are one step closer to getting the facility closed.

The Boyd County Fiscal Court unanimously voted Tuesday night to support the closure of the landfill.

According to Fiscal Court Judge Executive Steve Towler, neighbors near the landfill have dealt with nuisance odor issues for the past three years.

"As the intake has been increasing, we've experienced more problems," Towler said.

Now, the county will seek state approval to force the landfill to close up shop for good.
